Guwahati, August 08 (NKTV): On this day in 1942, Mahatma Gandhi had launched the Quit India Movement to drive away Britishers from India. The movement had begun from Gowalia Tank in Mumbai.
The Quit India movement is considered as one of the most significant movements in the history of Indian freedom struggle.
The day is observed as August Kranti Day every year.
To commemorate the movement, Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy will inaugurate an Exhibition on ‘Quit India Movement’ today.
