Australian opener David Warner who was given the man of the tournament award sparked roaring controversy as many cricket fans especially the Pakistanis didn’t believe he was deserving. The opening batsman scored a splendid 289 runs this year’s T20 world cup with an average of 48.16.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Babar Azam scored 303 runs despite playing one less game at an average of 60.60. Many Pakistani fans described it as ‘shameful’ and ‘disgrace’ to the game of cricket.
Pakistan’s pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar also tweeted that Babar Azam deserved the award rather than David Warner. In the tweet, he wrote “Was really looking forward to see @babarazam258 becoming Man of the Tournament. Unfair decision for sure.”
