Chennai Super Kings on Monday night managed to win their fifth IPL title in history and, with that, became the joint most decorated IPL franchise along with Mumbai Indians. The MS Dhoni-led side defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets on the night of the finals, and after that, while collecting the trophy, the skipper called Ambati Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja to share the space with him as BCCI President Roger Binny and Secretary Jay Shah handed the trophy to the trio.
Notably, this was Ambati Rayudu’s last game in the IPL, and he played a crucial role in CSK’s success over the years. Against Gujarat, in the final, the 37-year-old hit 19 runs off eight deliveries to help CSK get an inch closer to winning the tournament. On the other hand, when ten was required in the last two deliveries, Jadeja stepped up and hit a six and a boundary to secure CSK’s title and thus, Dhoni decided to call them up while collecting the trophy.
