Government of India has unveiled a new variety of Lotus with 108 petals. Union Minister of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh unveiled the Lotus naming it as ‘Namoh 108’. The Lotus has been developed by National Botanical Research Institute of Lucknow.
Speaking on the occasion of launch the union minister said “Namoh 108” and called it a grand gift to the “relentless zeal and innate beauty of Narendra Modi in the tenth year of his tenure as the prime minister.’ According to reports, The Namoh 108 lotus variety flowers from March to December and is rich in nutrients. This is the first lotus variety whose genome is completely sequenced for its characteristics.
