Guardian Minister Ashok Singhal Reviews Key Initiatives in Kokrajhar

Ashok Singhal, Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs and Irrigation, also serving as the Guardian Minister of Kokrajhar District, kicked off his two-day visit with a comprehensive review at the BTC Secretariat. He met with top officials from all council departments, joined by the respective department heads responsible for overseeing various Assam Government initiatives in the BTC area. BTC Chief Pramod Boro and Deputy CEM Govind Basumatari were also in attendance. During the meeting, Minister Singhal evaluated the progress of important schemes, including Jal Jeevan Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM Swanidhi, MGNREGA, Amrit Sarovar, PM Kisan, Khel Maharan, and others across the five districts under the council. He issued directives on urban street lighting, solid waste management, BTC development block restructuring, paddy procurement etc.

Minister Singhal reiterated that the welfare of BTR residents remains his top priority as Kokrajhar district’s Guardian Minister. He praised the council government’s initiatives, such as “Mission Super-50,” Bodoland School Adoption Programme, Green Bodoland Mission, Bodoland Sericulture Mission, Bodoland Handloom Mission, and Bodoland Pig Mission. He instructed the education department to expedite toilet construction in all BTR schools. Additionally, the Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs departments were tasked with launching a comprehensive campaign, mirroring the successful Mission 100 percent ration card implementation in Dhekiajuli LAC, to distribute ration cards to all eligible BTR beneficiaries.

Minister Singhal also conducted separate meetings with various organizations of BTR region at the Bodoland Guest House in Kokrajhar to address key issues. These organizations included ABSU, AKRSU, AASAA, AGSU, BTR Gorkha Samaj, All Assam Bengali Federation, All BTR Bengali Federation, Rabha Students Union, All BTR Scheduled Caste Students Union, Ex BTF Welfare Committee, All Assam Santhal Students Union and Akhil Hindi Bikash Parishad, among others.
