Both the Houses of Parliament were today adjourned sine die. When the Lok Sabha met this morning, opposition members started sloganeering over Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement on Dr B R Ambedkar. Amid the ruckus, Speaker Om Birla urged the MPs to strictly follow the rules and desist from protesting at any gate of Parliament. He also warned them of action in case of any deviation. He added that maintaining the dignity of Parliament is a collective responsibility of all members. Amid the din, two bills related to the One Nation One Election were referred to the Joint Committee of Parliament. Later, he adjourned the House sine die. The Rajya Sabha was first adjourned till 12 noon following an uproar in the House. The Upper House witnessed uproarious scenes following slogans and counter-slogans between treasury and opposition benches in the morning. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar urged Parliamentarians to honour public trust and expectations. He also called for accountability and introspection among members. Mr Dhankhar expressed concern over the state of parliamentary proceedings, saying the disruptions mock public trust and expectations.

Amid the din, he adjourned the House till 12 Noon. When the House reassembled at noon, a motion was moved to nominate 12 members to the Joint Committee of Parliament on the One Nation One Election bill. In his valedictory remark, Chairman Jagadeep Dhankhar regretted that during this session the Productivity was just around 40 per cent due to continuous disruptions. He called upon members to reaffirm their trust in democratic values. He said the transactions in the House are criticised by people thereby eroding public trust. He called for meaningful debate and discourse. Mr Dhankhar pointed out that undue moving of motion under rule 267 is regrettable and the House must function with dignity it deserves. Later, he adjourned the Upper House sine die. The Winter Session of Parliament started on the 25th of last month. Let’s go live to our Correspondent to learn more about this session.
