Mukesh Ambani’s Visionary Address at the Advantage Assam Summit 2025: A Bold Commitment to Assam’s Growth
Mukesh D Ambani, Chairman & Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, delivered a transformative speech today at the Advantage Assam Summit 2025, held in Guwahati. The summit, a significant event in Assam’s developmental journey, saw the participation of key leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, and several other dignitaries.
In his address, Ambani began by offering his heartfelt prayers to Maa Kamakhya, the Goddess of energy and creation, for her blessings on Assam and the entire nation. He noted that the true advantage for every Assamese and Indian lies in the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Highlighting the leadership’s impact on Assam’s growth, Ambani outlined four key advantages brought to the state over the past 11 years.
Advantage One: Bringing Assam to the Centre of India’s Developmental Map
Ambani acknowledged the efforts of Prime Minister Modi in ensuring Assam and the North-East region are no longer on the periphery but now central to India’s growth story. Modi’s frequent visits to the region, more than 70 in total, have cemented his commitment to Assam’s progress.
Advantage Two: ‘Act EAST, Act FAST, and Act FIRST’
The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma’s guiding mantra, “Act East, Act Fast, and Act First,” was praised by Ambani. He underscored the potential of Assam to not only grow rapidly but to also become the hub of growth opportunities in South and East Asia, pointing to Assam’s potential to attract international attention.
Advantage Three: The Connectivity Revolution
The speech celebrated the transformation in Assam’s connectivity, emphasizing not just physical, digital, and developmental connectivity, but also the emotional connectivity between Assam’s people and the rest of India. This emotional bond has strengthened under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Ambani noted.
Advantage Four: Technology as the Main Driver of Development
Ambani spoke enthusiastically about how technology will shape Assam’s future, particularly the state’s role in the technological revolution. He pointed out that while Assam is known worldwide for its tea, the region will soon be recognized as a technological paradise, driven by the tech-savvy youth of the state.
Ambani also took the opportunity to address Assam’s remarkable progress under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, emphasizing the ambitious plans to make Assam a mega economic powerhouse. Reflecting on their recent conversation, Ambani shared Sarma’s vision to rapidly accelerate Assam’s growth, doubling its economic size in the shortest possible time.
Reliance’s Bold Investment Commitments
Reflecting on Reliance’s ongoing commitment to Assam, Ambani revealed that the company has surpassed its initial investment target of ₹5,000 crore, committing over ₹12,000 crore so far. Furthermore, he outlined Reliance’s ambitious plans to invest more than ₹50,000 crore in Assam over the next five years in five key priority areas:
- Tech-Ready and AI-Ready Assam:
Reliance will further enhance Assam’s digital infrastructure, establishing AI-ready data centers and deploying high-performance computing systems. This will benefit students, healthcare, agriculture, and the youth by enabling them to learn, earn, and innovate from home. - Clean and Green Energy Hub:
Reliance aims to make Assam a leader in sustainable energy by developing world-class hubs for Compressed Biogas (CBG), producing 8 lakh tonnes of clean biogas annually. In addition, the company will explore nuclear energy projects in alignment with the government’s new policy on private participation in the nuclear sector. - Mega Food Park:
In a bid to support Assam’s agricultural sector, Reliance plans to establish a Mega Food Park, processing the state’s abundant agricultural produce for both national and international markets. - Retail Expansion:
Ambani announced plans to double the number of Reliance Retail stores in Assam from 400 to 800 over the next five years, further boosting local retail and creating thousands of employment opportunities. - Hospitality Infrastructure:
With the goal of boosting Assam’s tourism sector, Reliance will develop a luxurious seven-star Oberoi hotel in the heart of the state.
Ambani emphasized that these initiatives will create tens of thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, particularly for the youth of Assam.
Philanthropic Initiatives by Reliance Foundation
Ambani also unveiled a philanthropic initiative by Reliance Foundation aimed at promoting Assam’s rich heritage of arts and crafts, particularly bamboo and silk industries. In collaboration with the state government, Reliance Foundation plans to support local artisans and boost income generation in the region.

Concluding his address, Ambani expressed unwavering optimism about Assam’s future. He affirmed Reliance’s commitment to being a steadfast partner in Assam’s development, reiterating that the possibilities for Assam are “aseem” (limitless).
