NorthEast United FC to face NF Railway SA in 70th Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi trophy final

The grand finale of the 70th edition of the Bharat Ratna Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Trophy football tournament will see NorthEast United FC take on NF Railway Sports Association at the historic Judges’ Field in Guwahati on Thursday at 3:30 pm.

The final promises to be an exhilarating contest, with both teams having demonstrated exceptional quality and resilience throughout the tournament. Organised by the Guwahati Sports Association with support from the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, Assam, and various District Sports Associations, the competition has garnered immense enthusiasm.

This year’s tournament, structured in a three-format pattern, witnessed renewed vigour with the participation of over 8,400 players across more than 280 clubs. The overwhelming response reflects the tournament’s significance in Assam’s footballing landscape.

Dignitaries attending the final include Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Chief Guest, and Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Nandita Gorlosa as the Special Guest. Other esteemed guests include Mrigen Sarania, Mayor of Guwahati Municipal Corporation; Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NF Railway; Chief General Manager of the State Bank of India (Local Head Office, Guwahati Circle) S Radha Krishnan; Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita (Retd), Chairman of the 7th Finance Commission; Assam Football Association Honorary Secretary Sangrang Brahma; Bolin Bordoloi; and Mandar Tamhane, Chief Executive Officer of NorthEast United Football Club.

With an illustrious history, the Bordoloi Trophy remains a cornerstone of Assam’s football heritage, and this year’s final is expected to be a thrilling culmination of an outstanding tournament.
