In a landmark achievement for Assam and the Northeast, the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Stadium in Guwahati has been announced as India’s 30th Test cricket venue. The stadium is set to host its inaugural Test match during the IDFC First Bank Test Series against South Africa from November 22-26, 2025.

This marks a historic first for the entire Northeast region, as it will be the first-ever Test match played there. The announcement has brought immense pride to Assam’s cricketing community and further cements the state’s position on the national cricket map.

Devajit Lon Saikia, the Hon’ble Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), was instrumental in securing this prestigious opportunity for Assam. His dedicated efforts played a key role in bringing Test cricket to the Northeast for the very first time.

The upcoming event has generated tremendous excitement among cricket enthusiasts across the region. It is expected to significantly boost cricket development in Assam and inspire young players to aim for the highest levels of the sport. This development reaffirms Assam’s growing importance in India’s cricketing landscape and paves the way for more international matches in the future.

In the midst of this excitement, Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan added a touch of glamour to Guwahati with an electrifying performance before the IPL match between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings at the ACA Stadium.
