Security forces have released sketches of three suspected militants believed to be behind the brutal attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The incident, which took place on Tuesday at Baisaran meadow—about six kilometers from the town of Pahalgam—left several people injured and has been described as one of the worst civilian attacks in the area in recent times.
The suspects have been identified as Asif Fuji, Suleman Shah, and Abu Talha. Authorities believe they are affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF), a group linked to the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
According to officials, a group of five to six heavily armed militants, dressed in camouflage uniforms, launched the ambush after navigating through dense pine forests surrounding the popular tourist spot. Initial forensic evidence and eyewitness accounts indicate the use of military-grade weapons and advanced communication devices, suggesting the attackers may have had external logistical support.
One of the assailants was reportedly wearing a body camera during the attack, while all were dressed in traditional attire—long shirts and loose trousers.
In response to the attack, a high-level team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), led by a Deputy Inspector General (DIG), arrived at the site on Wednesday. The team is working closely with Jammu and Kashmir Police to collect forensic evidence, analyze data, and track down those responsible for the assault.
