Mumbai Indians (MI) captain, Rohit Sharma has been fined with ₹12 lakh after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their IPL 2021 match against DC in Chennai on 20th April. Rohit Sharma has now became the second captain after MS Dhoni to be fined for slow over-rate in this season of the Indian Premier League.
The IPL authorities said “As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Rohit Sharma was fined ₹12 lakh.”
Interestingly, Rohit Sharma only captained the MI up to the third over of the Delhi Capitals innings and went back to pavilion due to injury. In replacement, West Indies all rounder, Kieron Pollard led the MI for rest of the match.
