ACA to organize intra-state T20 tournament from 18 September

Guwahati, September 10 (NKTV): The Assam Cricket Association (ACA), in a press conference held today at the premises of the ACA Stadium, Barsapara, Guwahati, made several important and significant announcements that would go a long way in improving the cricketing landscape of the State.

In the press meet, it was announced that Assam Cricket Association would introduce a first-of-its-kind intra-state T20 tournament named Assam T20 Challengers Trophy 2021. The tournament, which will be played among 61 teams, will kick-start on September 18 this year and will be held at the iconic Judges Field of Guwahati. Addressing the media, Devajit Saikia, Secretary, Assam Cricket Association said that the tournament was going to be organised in an overall bid to increase transparency in matters of selection of the Assam team for the various tournaments conducted by BCCI.

He added that the team for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq All Trophy 2021-22 from Assam will be selected based on the performance of the players in the Assam T20 Challengers Trophy 2021, which will be broadcasted live on an application named Fan Code.

Following are the names of the teams of the Assam T20 Challengers Trophy 2021 along with their coaches and managers’ names

Team A-Barak Bravehearts, Coach-Dipankar Banerjee, Manager – Md. Masum

Team B-Manas Tigers, Coach – Bachan Singh, Manager-Dipak Kr. Das

Team C-Brahmaputra Boys, Coach-Salil Sinha, Manager – Promod Rajbangshi

Team D-Dihing Patkai Riders, Coach-RK Yadav, Manager – Indrajit Dutta

Team E-Kaziranga Heroes, Coach-Dhiraj Goswami, Manager-Partha Pratim Bora

Team F-Subansiri Champs, Coach-Sandipan Debnath, Manager-Ebu Hussain Other details of the Assam T20 Challengers Trophy 2021 have been attached herewith.

It was also announced that the two Annual Awards Function 2021 will be held on September 15, 2021 from 6-8 PM at the Auditorium Hall of the Gauhati Town Club. In the event, the players, coaches and technical personnel who had put up stellar performances during the last cricketing season will be awarded handsomely by Assam Cricket Association across different categories. The event will also serve as a curtain-raiser for the aforementioned Assam T20 Challengers Trophy 2021, where the tournament’s trophies, logo and jerseys will be unveiled for the first time.

The secretary, Assam Cricket Association also announced that Guwahati would be hosting group stage matches of three BCCI tournaments in this season including Syed Mushtaq All Trophy 2021-22, Men’s U-25 State A ODI Tournament 2021-22 and Senior Women’s T-20 Trophy.
