Assam managed to bag another recognition in an international film festival. Amidst a ravaging pandemic, Assamese movies have been gathering laurels. Another one has been added to the list by acclaimed Assamese actress Aimee Baruah.
Aimee’s very first film as a filmmaker, ‘Semkhor’ has been decorated with three awards in the Tagore International Film Festival. The Dimasa language film ‘Semkhor’ was recognized for the ‘Best Narrative’, ‘Best Women Film’ and ‘Best Debut Film Maker’.
Semkhor narrates the story of the village with the same name located in the Dima Hasao district of Assam that is still untouched by modern developments. The film describes the simple lifestyle of the community, their beliefs and daily struggles.
Baruah, who also played the lead role in the movie, took to her Facebook account to thank the viewers and everyone associated with the project.
