Army and AR step in to control violence in Manipur
Violence erupted in Manipur – areas of Churachandpur, Imphal, KPI. The Army and AR were requisitioned on night 03 & 04 May.
The columns of Army/AR with State police intervened to controlled situation in the night. The violence was arrested by the morning.
A no of villagers approx 4000 were given shelter in Army/AR COBs and state govt premises at various places. Flag marches are being conducted to keep the sit under control.
Shifting of villagers to safer areas away from violence locations is under progress.
Indian Army & Assam Rifles undertook major rescue operations to evacuate more than 7500 civilians of all communities relentlessly throughout the night to restore law & order in Manipur.
