Guwahati, July 15 (NKTV): Intense monsoon activity is set to resume over Northeast India, as heavy rains have been forecast across the region starting July 16.
As informed by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls is likely over the Northeast on Friday. Further intensification is expected over the weekend, with isolated very heavy falls on the cards from Saturday to Monday (July 17-19).
Isolated heavy to very heavy rain is expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya from Friday to Sunday. On Monday, the precipitation intensity will decrease to isolated heavy showers. In view of the above predictions, the IMD has placed an orange alert over the states during this period, with the advisory urging residents to be prepared for rough conditions.
Meanwhile, the likes of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will witness isolated heavy rainfall throughout this forecast period. Accordingly, a yellow watch has been issued over these four states, as it advises residents to be aware of the local weather situation.
