In a heartfelt tribute to the late Ratan Tata and the significant contributions made by the Tata Group towards the development of Assam, the state Cabinet has decided to name the upcoming Electronic City in Jagiroad as Ratan Tata Electronic City. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement on social media, highlighting the state’s recognition of Tata’s role in its growth.
Following a Cabinet meeting, CM Sarma also shared details about the approval of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed at the Advantage Assam 2.0 event, which are aimed at establishing two new universities in Assam—one in Sipajhar and another in Tinsukia. These bills will soon be presented in the Assam Legislative Assembly.
In addition, several other bills were approved, which include the establishment of new universities across the state such as Sivasagar University, North Lakhimpur University, Nagaon University, and others. The government also announced that national security clearance will be required for setting up any private university in Assam in the future.
