Assam defeat Gujarat by 7 wickets in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Assam registered their first win in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 defeating Gujarat by 7 wickets in Delhi. Winning the toss Gujarat elected to bat first but were bowled out for just 89 runs. Assam’s Mukhtar Hussain took crucial 3 wickets for just 14 runs in his four-over spell.

Meanwhile Pritam Das, Riyan Parag and Rajjakuddin Ahmed also scalped 2 wickets each. For Gujarat, Ripal Patel and Pijush Chawla scored the highest 21 runs.

Chasing a target of 89, Abhishek Thakuri’s 23 and captain Riyan Parag’s 20 helped Assam to register an easy win. Earlier Assam had lost their initial match in the tournament to Madhya Pradesh. The Assam Cricket Association President Romen Dutta and Secretary Devajit Lon Saikia congratulated the Assam team for the splendid victory.
