Assam | Funds donated in Aryogya Nidhi to be used for vaccination
Assam Government will be acquiring two crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine to inoculate all eligible citizens of the state of 18 years of age and above. Apprising the media after discussions with the District Administration, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that already 1 crore doses of ‘Covaxin’ has been ordered from Bharat Biotech, and another 1 crore doses of ‘Covaxin’ will be ordered from the Serum Institute of India soon.
All expenses of the vaccines will be paid with the money donated by the citizens earlier in the ‘Aroyga Nidhi’ fund. If additional amount is needed, the same will be provided from the annual budget.
Sarma informed that there is approximately Rs. 118 crore in the ‘Aroyga Nidhi’fund. “People’s money will be spent for the people and there will be no concern of scam here,” he added.
