Assam Govt promises 1 lakh job, GU lays off faculty members from jobs concurrently

Guwahati, July 4 (NKTV): As the Government of Assam had recently announced of generating one lakh jobs and appointing candidates accordingly, Gauhati University has concurrently laid of contractual faculty members from jobs.

In a notification dated July 02, the Registrar of Gauhati University has stated that following a meeting with the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University, it was decided that all contractual appointment of teaching faculty has been stopped with effect from 30/06/2021.

The same is also applicable to those whose contract period is valid beyond 30/06/2021.

“The Government of Assam had promised one lakh jobs. That is a good initiative. But what about the ones who are already working and are suddenly laid off from jobs” many have raised questions.
