The Assam Government has announced a financial assistance of ₹300 per month for six months to support Class 10 students from economically weaker backgrounds. This aid aims to help them afford tuition and improve their academic performance.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement on April 1, during the launch of the state’s largest entrepreneurship initiative, the ‘Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan.’ The initiative is focused on empowering 30 lakh women by offering financial aid to help them start their own businesses.
CM Sarma took to social media to announce the aid, stating, “For all my Bhagins (sisters) in Class 10, we will soon be crediting ₹300 per month for six months to students from poor families, so they can take tuitions and perform better in their exams.” He also shared a video of the announcement.
In addition to this, the Assam government also introduced a major support scheme for women entrepreneurs. Under the ‘Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan,’ women will receive ₹10,000 in seed capital to help boost self-employment opportunities. The scheme was launched in Behali, Biswanath district, and will be gradually rolled out across the state.
After handing over the first cheques, CM Sarma stated, “This is Assam’s largest women entrepreneurship support scheme, and it will benefit 30 lakh women.”
