Assam | HSLC, HSSLC examinations to be conducted between Aug 01 and Aug 15

Guwahati, June 08 (NKTV): Amid the ongoing confusion regarding HSLC and HSSLC examinations in the state, Assam Education Minister called for a discussion with SEBA, AHSEC and the state Health Department along with AASU, ABSU, Bodo Sahitya Sabha and Assam Sahitya Sabha at the Janata Bhawan today. The authorities have consequently targeted to conducted the HSLC and HSSLC examinations by the first week of August. The various organisations involved in the discussion have urged the Government to secure the future of students.

While the authorities have targeted to conduct the examinations between August 01 and August 15, AASU has urged the Government to keep in mind the health security of students and that students do not have to lose an academic year.

“It has to be ensured that there is no unnecessary crowding at the examination centres. We welcome the decision of conduction examinations of only three subjects. With the onset of monsoon in the state, the examinations have to be conducted before floods take a tragic turn” said members of ABSU.

Chief Advisor of AASU Samujjal Bhattacharya said “Students must not lose lose an academic year at any cost”. He asked students to continue with their studies until a firm decision arrives from the Government’s side.

Meanwhile, the organisations have urged the state government to ensure that shops and other commercial entities are closed during the examination days. They have also proposed setting up of green corridors for movement of students towards examination centres.

The Education Department informed that they are in favour of conducting the examinations. “We are recently witnessing a downfall in the Covid cases across the state. Within 10 days, we shall come up with a rigid decision and plan. We have targeted the time period between August 01 and August 15 and will publish an SOP regarding the same” the Education Department informed.
