Assam reports 5,657 fresh Covid-19 cases with 71 deaths in last 24 hours
The Covid-19 situation in Assam and the country is getting worsening as cases are increasing rapidly. Assam on Wednesday reported 5,657 fresh Covid-19 cases with 71 deaths. Kamrup Metro district detected the highest number of cases with 1,456 fresh infections. Kamrup Rural district reported 460 cases in the last 24 hours.
The health department of Assam conducted 63,956 Covid-19 tests and the positivity rate was at 8.85%. However, 3,880 Covid-19 patients were also discharged in the last 24 hours. Currently there are 40,970 active Covid-19 cases in the state.
Meanwhile, 3,62,727 new COVID-19 cases with 4,120 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours in India, as the country witnessed rise in daily cases for the second day. The total number of cases has reached 2,37,03,665, while the death toll has surged to 2,58,317. A total of 1,97,34,823 COVID-19 patients have recovered till now, and currently there are 37,10,525 active cases in the country.
