Assam suffers heavy defeat against Maharashtra in Ranji Trophy

Assam suffered a heavy defeat against Maharashtra by an innings and 7 runs in their first match of Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season. Winning the toss Assam decided to bowl first but Maharashtra’s Pavan Shah scored a mammoth 219 runs which helped them to score 415 runs in the first innings.

Meanwhile, Assam just scored 248 runs in the first innings with Riyan Parag scoring the highest 88 runs for the team. Assam’s skipper Kunal Saikia also added valuable 46 runs.

Assam was then given follow-on by the Maharashtra team but was bundled out for just 160 runs in their second innings. All-rounder Riyan Parag also scored the highest 56 runs in the second innings. Assam will next play against Uttar Pradesh side on 24th February.
