Assam’s rural households to get tap water by 2024

Guwahati, June 23 (NKTV): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today took a review of the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission at the conference room of his office in Janata Bhawan today.

Chief Minister Dr. Sarma while taking the review of the mission asked the Mission Director and other functionaries to put everything in place to implement the mission and make the it a total success by 2024. He said that as per the mandate of the mission all the families in the rural areas should be entitled to be getting piped drinking water. He also asked the Mission Director to sensitize the required infrastructure along with adequate man power to help the target people get the benefits under the mission.

Moreover, to address the requirement of technically sound man power for the mission, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma advocated for training the manpower in skill development centres in the state. He also took stock of the problems and other shortcomings associated with the mission.

Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha, Mission Director Jal Jeevan Mission Akash Deep and other senior officers of the government were present in the meeting.
