Guwahati, August 10 (NKTV): The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has decided to name August 07 as ‘Javelin Throw Day’ in India to honour Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra.
Neeraj had won India’s first ever Olympic Gold in athletics on August 07 at the Tokyo Olympics.
Chairman of AFI Planning Committee Lalit Bhanot said that competitions will be conducted every year throughout the nation on August 07, in a bid to promote Javelin Throw in India. “We hope to attract more youth into the game” the chairman said.
