Barpeta clinches R.G. Baruah U-16 Trophy

The Barpeta district team clinched the R.G Baruah U-16 Inter-District Cricket Tournament 2021-22 by defeating the Dhemaji team by 70 runs. The ACA also hosted the Closing Ceremony of the R.G. Baruah U-16 Inter-District Cricket Tournament 2021-22 at the ACA Stadium in presence of ACA members and a host of other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, Romen Dutta, President of Assam Cricket Association spoke about the significance of the R.G. Baruah U-16 Inter-District Cricket Tournament, and how it helps the cricket players to hone their skills and improve their game.

He, at the same time, applauded the teams participating in the R.G. Baruah U-16 Inter-District Cricket Tournament 2021-22 for showing a high degree of competitive spirit on the field.

It is pertinent to mention here that this season of the R.G. Baruah U-16 Inter-District Tournament included two teams of the State Cricket Academy, Assam, besides featuring the 39 teams of the affiliated units. These two new teams – President ACA XI and Secretary ACA XI – comprised players from all over Assam, and brought more competitiveness to the tournament, besides enhancing the exposure of the young talents. Moreover, this season of the tournament witnessed the affiliated unit teams being divided into two categories – Plate and Elite – based on the results of the last R.G. Baruah U-16 Inter-District Tournament held in the early part of the year 2021.

6) Man of the Match (Final) – Rajiv Lochan Das of Barpeta for scoring 89 runs
