Guwahati, August 21 (NKTV): After a local from Santipur lodged an FIR stating that on the previous night some unknown miscreants had entered the Ganesh Mandir by breaking the grill lock and stolen some cash from a Sarai along with some other valuable utensils. Hence Bharalumukh PS C/No.683/2021 U/S 457/380 IPC was registered and investigations started.
Further on the next day an FIR was received from another person stating that on the previous night some unknown miscreants entered their Namghar by breaking the grill lock and stole cash Rs 6000/- from a Sarai along with some other valuable utensils. Accordingly Bharalumukh PS C/No.689/2021 U/S 457/380 IPC was registered.
During investigation the following three accused persons were initially arrested on the evening of 20.08.2021:

s/o Late Nripen Das
r/o Kamakhya Gate, Adingiri

3) Raju Boro @ Maina Boro ( 25yrs)
s/o Late Jatin Boro
Vill – Chengmari
PS & Dist – Kokrajhar
On questioning, they confessed to have stolen the articles from the aforesaid religious places and sold the same to one Anowar Hussain (30 yrs) s/o Md Sabulla Sheikh of Bhootnath, PS: Bharalumukh. (Receiver).
Subsequently the latter was picked up and he led us to one Md Imran Hussain (24 yrs) , S/o Murtuz Ali, RK Mission Road PS Paltan Bazar (2nd Receiver), to whom he had further sold the stolen articles.
Accordingly Md Imran Hussain was arrested along with five of his accomplices namely :

The stolen articles that have been recovered include Sarais, lamps and other utensils made of brass and bell metal, which were stolen from the temples. Further investigation is on to unearth other linkages.
