Guwahati, June 05 (NKTV): Among the many across the state of Assam, shepherds of Majuli have been victims of the ongoing pandemic. Lack of buyers has compelled shepherds to hurl hundred of litres of milk into the Brahmaputra river.
It may be mentioned here that there are over one lakh cattle heads in Majuli that produce around 3,000 litres of milk daily. The ban on inter-district travel across Assam has rendered the shepherds helpless.
“If we don’t milk the cows, it leads to numerous health issues of the cattle. And if we do, we have to throw away the milk. We are helpless” says a shepherd.
