Guwahati, July 8 (NKTV): Parliamentary Affairs Minister of Assam Pijush Hazarika today informed that the Assam cabinet has approved the cow protection bill and the same is to be tabled in the assembly later this month.
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier said that the legislation would ban the movement of cattle from other parts of the country into Assam and vice versa.
“We had earlier announced that our government would bring a cow protection bill. The cabinet yesterday approved the introduction of the bill in the state assembly” Hazarika said.
The bill is aimed at ending cattle smuggling to Bangladesh through the international border along Assam and Meghalaya.
