Invites South Korean investors, industrialists to Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit
Holds meeting with Korea Automobile Parts Industry Promotion Foundation
As a part of global outreach initiatives in view of the ensuing investment summit titled Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma who is in Seoul, today invited the South Korean industrialists and entrepreneurs to visit Assam during the signature summit. in Guwahati on 25 and 26 February.
Addressing the investors, industrialists and entrepreneurs at an investment road show in Seoul today, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma while inviting the prospective investors to the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit, said that Assam has locational and strategic advantages. Moreover the state is the recipient of special dispensation of the Central government which has made Assam the most special destination in India.
The Chief Minister further said Assam has three major advantages namely locational, strategic and policy. He said that Assam and North East are among the biggest priorities of Government of India led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also said that Central government is very proactive for the development of Assam and other North Eastern states. Referring to Act East Policy, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated, Dr. Sarma said that the policy has aimed at developing Assam a spring board to boost India’s relations with South East and South East Asian nations.
Chief Minister Dr. Sarma during the road show, which was organized by Indian Chamber of Commerce in South Korea also interacted with more than 140 business leaders. Hailing their enthusiasm for Advantage Assam as phenomenal, Dr. Sarma said that the Korean business community was buoyed by India’s position as the world’s fastest growing major economy. He also stated that Assam can offer unique opportunities to the business leaders of South Korea for the mutual benefit of both India and South Korea. The Chief Minister also said that Assam is a lucrative business destination with several investors’ friendly policies, as he maintained that their participation in the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit to be held in Guwahati on 25 and 26 February would augur well for the development of investment climate in Assam.
Presenting Assam in its myriad forms, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma said that Assam is not only important for its immense potentials as investment destination, it is also a hotspot for tourism. The state has three UNESCO world heritage sites including sprawling tea gardens and beautiful resorts, as the Chief Minister said that these sites have the potential to host the tourists and give them their well-deserved relaxations.
Later, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma also held a meeting with a delegation from Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) led by its President Kyungsung Kang, and his team in Seoul. The Chief Minister invited the Korean industry players to the summit. He said that the forthcoming summit will present a knowledge sharing platform to the industrialists, investors and entrepreneurs about the industrial and investment ecosystem of Assam. Dr. Sarma also said that the Summit will also play a pivotal role in fostering ties and a shared strategy to explore avenues of partnership for growth and development in fields of trade, commerce, industry and skilling for mutual benefits of Assam and Korean businesses. Dr. Sarma during the meeting also
stressed on Assam’s rich tourism potential and it’s plans to create a full fledged semiconductor ecosystem in Assam to complement the world’s largest OSAT unit coming up in Jagiroad.
Chief Minister Dr Sarma also held a meeting with CEOs and leaders from South Korea’s automobile ancillary firms. In the meeting Dr. Sarma offered them the unstinted support of his government to build a large scale ecosystem for manufacturing automobile ancillaries in Assam. With easy access to India’s 100 billion dollars auto industry and that of South East Asia, Assam offers them unparalleled advantages, the Chief Minister added.
