In a move to bolster connectivity of the BTR districts of Assam, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday visited Kokrajhar and took stock of the progress of the Saralpara road which goes till Bhutan border.
It may be noted that the Chief Minister during an election rally at Dhaligaon for Lok Sabha, promised to re-construct the road. Taking his assurance forward, Dr. Sarma who was in Kokrajhar on Monday to attend the historic first ever Assembly session outside the state capital, reviewed the progress of the work and instructed the PWD to ensure its timely completion for the benefit of the people.
He said that the road being re-constructed with a financial outlay of Rs. 27 crore once completed will facilitate connectivity between Bishmuri and Saralpara. He said that if required, State government will allot more money for the proposed road. The road will be dedicated to the service of the people in 12 to 18 months and it will facilitate connectivity in Ultapani, Saralpara, Bishmuri etc.
Chief of BTC Pramod Boro, Executive Member Sajjal Singh, Special Chief Secretary (Forests) M.K. Yadava and host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Later on the day, Chief Minister Dr Sarma inaugurated the gate of the ISKCON temple in Kokrajhar and paid his obeisance to the Lord Krishna. He had prasad and spent some time with the devotees present there.
Minister PHE Jayanta Mallabaruah, MLA Taranga Gogoi, CEM BTC Pramod Boro and hosts of others were present on the occasion.
