CM orders speedy probe in Abhayakhuti case

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited Abhayakhuti in Kokrajhar district and met the family members of the two minor girls whose bodies were found hanging from a tree in mysterious condition on Friday.

Chief Minister Dr. Sarma while interacting with the bereaved family conveyed his deep sympathy to them and said the government stands firmly by the family at this time of their distress.

We're extremely pained at the tragic incident of Abhayakhuti, Kokrajhar.

To reassure family of 2 minor girls, whose bodies were found hanging from a tree in mysterious condition on Friday, I met them today to console & share their pain.

Later talking to media persons, the Chief Minister said that he visited the family to personally take stock of the incident. He informed that IGP in charge of BTR and SP Kokrajhar have been asked to do an expeditious investigation to unearth the cause of death of the two minor girls.

Further saying that women safety always remains top priority of the Assam government; the Chief Minister averred that atrocity in any form against poor too shall not be tolerated.

BTC Chief Pramod Boro and Kokrajhar East MLA Lawrence Islary were also present during the visit of the Chief Minister.
