CM Sarma in Delhi | Here are the important pointers for Assam

Guwahati, August 10 (NKTV): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today addressed media persons in Delhi and informed that he had met the Prime Minister, Home Minister, Health Minister and Forest and Environment Minister as well as Union Ministers from Assam Rameshwar Teli and Sarbananda Sonowal during his visit to the national capital.

  • During his meeting with the Prime Minister, Sarma raised issues regarding the third unit of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited in Namrup, that is in critical condition and also informed that the works of proposed fourth unit is proceeding slowly. He also apprised the Prime Minister regarding the production of ONGC that may be boosted up through setting up of a special unit in ONGC for Assam.
  • The CM also discussed the law and order issue with the Home Minister wherein he apprised the Home Minister that the returning of NLFB cadres to mainstream has paved the path for a new era of peace in BTR.
  • In the meeting with the Health Minister, CM requested for more vaccination to Assam.
  • In the meeting with DoNER Minister, the CM requested for more projects for the state of Assam.
  • In the meeting with Forest Minister, Sarma requested for speeding up the forest clearance for all ongoing projects in Assam.
  • After August 15, 2021, SoP for Covid will be relaxed and the shops may be opened up to 6:00 PM and if the Covid cases go less than 500 after September 01, 2021, then the classes of final year students may be started.
  • Responding to media queries on Assam- Mizoram border dispute, the CM said “First of all, there is need for complete peace and tranquility in the border and in this regard, both governments are talking to each other. From my point of view, the problem should be resolved. The problem is not for one and two inch of land but it requires complete solution”.
  • Responding to NRC issue, Sarma said “I have suggested the Advocate of the Government of Assam that if there is a hearing at the Supreme Court, then we will pray before Supreme Court that any discussion on NRC should be held after the normalization of Covid-19 pandemic”.
  • On the issue of two child policy, the CM said that the same can not be forced to a family.
  • Regarding the state cabinet reshuffle, Sarma said that there is no planning for the same as of now.
  • Responding to the media query on the proposal of settlement of Nagaon Paper Mill and Cachar Paper Mill, the CM informed that the draft to resolve the issue has already been made by the State Government and that his government shall provide Rs 630 crore. But there are differences between employees and the officers of the mills, Sarma said.
  • Responding to media query about giving citizenship of to Nepali origin in Assam but not the rest, the CM stated that Nepali origin citizens shall get Indian Citizenship under the historic India-Nepal treaty and not giving them Indian Citizenship is injustice to them. “Hindu refugees of Bangladesh will be covered under CAA (2019)” Sarma said..
  • The CM informed that Drugs worth Rs 183 crore have been seized in last three months.
  • The Government of Assam is all set to welcome Lovlina Borgohain following Covid Protocol on August 12, 2021 in Assam.
  • The rehabilitation policy for the drug addicts of Assam will be announced very soon.
