Guwahati, June 06 (NKTV): Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting with the officials of Panchayat and Rural Development department in the presence of P&RD Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass in his office conference room at Janata Bhawan today and reviewed the functioning of schemes such as MGNREGA, PMAY, Social Assistance Programmes, ASRLM etc.
The Chief Minister directed the department to prepare guidelines outlining the activities to be taken up annually under the MGNREGA in the State giving adequate focus on assets creation in the villages apart from involving the tea garden population in such works.
The Chief Ministerdirected structural changes in the functioning of the Block Development Offices including steps such as posting of civil service officers in responsible positions to oversee the implementation of rural development schemes, transfer of BDOs, other officers and GP Secretaries who have completed three years in the present place of posting besides formulating mechanism for intensified monitoring.
Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Samir Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary to P&RD Dr. JB Ekka, Commissioner P&RD Hemen Das and other senior officers of the department were present in the meeting.
