CM Dr. Sarma attends a live streaming programme of inauguration and foundation stone laying of a slew of projects for health sector by PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated, launched and laid  foundation stones of a slew of projects related to health sector worth over Rs 12,850 crore at All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi as Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the live streaming programme  of the same from AIIMS, Guwahati on the occasion of 9th Ayurveda Day today.  

On the same occasion, the Prime Minister also virtually inaugurated multiple cutting-edge healthcare and medical services for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati today. The services include Drone Services for rapid delivery of essential medical supplies from the premier tertiary care institutions, a modern auditorium, a Radiotherapy Block equipped with a High Energy Linear Accelerator, HDR Brachy therapy Unit, and a 4D-CT Simulator, all of which promise to revolutionize medical and cancer care in the region. The Prime Minister also inaugurated advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities such as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unit with a 3T scanner, a state-of-the-art Biplane Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) for interventional radiology procedures, a Dexa Scan for bone health assessment, and a well-equipped Night Shelter designed to accommodate patients’ families, offering comfort and support to those travelling from distant areas.

Addressing the media, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma thanking the Prime Minister on behalf of the people of Assam said that the facilities at AIIMS Guwahati will be able to cater to more patients seeking advanced health care facilities. The facilities will also help the institute to develop more health-oriented research and courses to train future medical professionals while contributing to advancements treatment protocols. He also said that the facilities will be able to bring Assam at par with the other developed regions of the country.

It may be noted that Prime Minister dedicated AIIMS Guwahati to the nation on 14 April 2023. Since then, the institute has progressed tremendously. In this direction, the institute with the help of the Government, developed multiple advanced healthcare facilities. The Chief Minister further said that these infrastructural and technological enhancements will mark defining milestone for AIIMS Guwahati.

The programme was attended among others by MPs Bijuli Kalita Medhi, Bhubaneswar Kalita, Chief Secretary Dr Ravi Kota, Director AIIMS Guwahati Prof. Ashok Puranik, Director IIT Guwahati Prof. Devendra Jalihal and host of other dignitaries.

It may be noted that the Prime Minister on the occasion of 9th Ayurveda Day, launched expansion of the Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). The scheme will cover all senior citizens of 70 years and above to receive health care coverage regardless of their income. He also dedicated the U-Win Portal for Allied Health Care Professionals. He also launched the Climate Change and Health action plans and multiple projects of the Ministry of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Pharmaceutical and Employees State Insurance Corporation.
