Covaxin can neutralize double mutant strain of Covid-19: Study

In a study done by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) it has appeared that the Bharat Biotech’s Covid-19 vaccine ‘Covaxin’ can counterpoise multiple variants of SARS-CoV-2 and effectively neutralizes the double mutant strain of Covid-19 found in India as well.

ICMR took to its official Twitter handle and wrote, “ICMR study shows #COVAXIN neutralizes against multiple variants of SARS-CoV-2 and effectively neutralizes the double mutant strain as well.”

Notably, the Assam government has written to Bharat Biotech, proposing to procure 1 crore doses of Covaxin to inoculate the citizens of the state under Phase 3 of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme.

The ‘Covaxin’ was developed in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) – National Institute of Virology (NIV) and Bharat Biotech.
