Covid-19 infections surging rapidly, Assam detects 3,045 fresh cases

The Covid-19 situation in Assam is deteriorating on with every passing day as the fresh cases continue to surge in a rapid rate. On Thursday, 28th of April, the state reported 3,045 fresh cases with 22 deaths. The positivity rate of Covid-19 in the state has also increased to 5.49%.

Kamrup Metro district saw the highest rise with 1,206 new coronavirus cases. While, Dibrugarh reported 229 and Kamrup Rural 225 fresh infections.

55,480 tests were conducted by the health department on Wednesday and currently there are 21,848 Covid-19 active cases in Assam.

Meanwhile, India reported 3,79,257 fresh cases with 3,645 deaths in the last 24 hours. The cumulative cases in the country stands at 18,376,524 and the death toll from Covid-19 has reached 204,812 in the country.
