COVID19 positivity rate surging in Assam, claims many lives

The positivity rate of COVID-19 cases detected per day in Assam is on a constant rise and has reached 10.1 percent on 2nd May.

According to data provided by the National Health Mission, Assam, the state recorded 2385 fresh cases yesterday and 30 deaths. The current number of COVID-19 infected patients in Assam has reached 24,551.

Kamrup Metropolitan district detected 1099 cases, followed by Tinsukia at 181 and Dibrugarh at 148. Kamrup Metro also recorded the highest number of deaths yesterday – 12.

The COVID-19 cases are surging despite Assam taking strict measures of night curfew, restricted working policies and complete closure of educational institutions.

Earlier, the Election Commission had restricted celebrations of the political parties on the day of election results, and the same was seen to be adhered to in the state.

Despite all precautions the novel coronavirus has taken the lives of many in the state and across the country.
