In the final of the 6th Assam Premier Club Championship, the Cricket Club of Dibrugarh emerged victorious, defeating Tengapara Cricket Club by 7 wickets to claim the championship title. The rain-marred contest was shortened to a five-over-per-side affair, intensifying the challenge for both teams.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Tengapara posted a formidable total of 67/3 in their allotted five overs. Bikiran Das spearheaded their innings with a blistering knock, smashing 51 runs off just 16 deliveries, adorned with six sixes and three boundaries.
However, the Cricket Club of Dibrugarh showcased remarkable resilience in their chase, reaching the target with two balls to spare. Gunjanjyoti Deka was the star performer for the victors, crafting a sensational 39 runs off 13 balls, steering his team to glory.
In recognition of his stellar performance, Gunjanjyoti Deka was bestowed with the ‘Man of the Match’ award. Meanwhile, Parvej Musaraf of India Club, Silchar, was crowned ‘Player of the Tournament’ for his consistent contributions throughout the championship.
Individual excellence was also celebrated, with Rohit Sen of Tengapara Cricket Club clinching the ‘Best Batter’ award, while Akshay Kumar Deka of Star Sporting Club, Nagaon, was honoured as the ‘Best Bowler’ for his exceptional bowling prowess.
The prize distribution ceremony, held amidst the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Assam Cricket Association Secretary Tridib Konwar, Vice President Rajdeep Oja, Treasurer Chiranjit Langthasa, CEO Pritam Mahanta, Apex Council Members Sibapada Bhattacharya and Minu Alam and others, added grandeur to the occasion. Former ACA President Romen Dutta and sports organizer Pulak Goswami also graced the event.
