CM attends 82nd foundation day of B. Borooah College
In industrialization process Assam needs more skilled workforce equipped with latest technologies
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that today’s education system should focus on holistic development of students and adopt modern teaching methods to empower the students with multidisciplinary skills and make them fit for industry 4.0.
Speaking at the 82nd foundation day celebrations of B. Borooah College here today, the Chief Minister said that in view of the changing dynamics of the professional world, students need to be equipped with multidisciplinary skills to make them compatible with the requirement of the job market. He also said that the present education system must be sensitive to help the students for the holistic development. He also advocated for adopting modern teaching methods for the capacity building of the students.
The Chief Minister during his speech also highlighted the importance of imparting skill-based education to be able to prepare the youth to use the opportunities available in the 21st century. He moreover said that considering the changing academic dynamics and addressing the changing demands of the society, the education system must empower the students with the next generation technology. He also said that as Assam is marching ahead in industrialization, the state needs more skilled workforce who are equipped with the technologies like AI, Robotics, Cloud Computing, Block Chain, Augmented Reality, 3D printing etc. to match the increasing demands for such roles.
The Chief Minister said that B Borooah College has been playing an important role in shaping up the youth with the right skills. Congratulating the college fraternity on being awarded with A++ accreditation by NAAC, Dr. Sarma called upon the B. Borooah College fraternity to align the college with the new demands of the technological innovation and start courses on AI, Machine Learning, 5G, Block Chain, Augmented Reality, 3D printing etc.
The Chief Minister on the occasion, announced Rs. 10 crore as well as additional lands for the expansion of B.Borooah College. He said that in the next 25 years, India is going to be the hub for next generation technology and B Borooah college must act itself as an enabler to empower it’s students for the future. Considering the fast changing society and the newer academic programmes and scientific research that are developing day by day to keep track on the changing situation, Dr. Sarma urged upon the B. Borooah College to go for collaborative approach and partner with other educational institutions for the cutting edge technology and research works.
Chief Minister Dr. Sarma conveyed his greetings to the entire fraternity of B. Borooah College on the occasion of foundation day. He also paid his rich tributes to the doyens like Bholanath Borooah, Gopinath Bordoloi, Hem Barua for their important role in bringing the college to its present position. Starting its journey way back in 1943, under the shadow of the World War II and the nationalistic struggle against the foreign rule, the college travelled a long way to become an important place, which is responsible for creating a large pool of human resources scattered across the country and outside. He also congratulated the management of the college on securing the autonomous status from the UGC. He said that the status would help the college in furthering its role as a centre of advanced learning and fostering values that shape responsible and enlightened citizens. He also hoped that the status would also help the college to create facilities for becoming one of the top 50 educational institutions in the country.
The Chief Minister on the occasion appealed to the colleges in Assam to play their role in empowering students who are brave, strong and successful in their chosen fields of life. He also said that he is hopeful that all the institutions in Assam will become centres of modern learning and contribute towards the goal of a Viksit Assam and Sashakt Bharat.
Minister Public Health Engineering etc Jayanta Mallabaruah, Chief Executive Member Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang, Principal of the college Dr Satyendra Nath Barman and host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
