Eviction operation conducted at Boromboi Reserve Forest

Guwahati, June 23 (NKTV): Eviction operation has been carried out at Boromboi Reserve Forest by forest personnel with the help of civil and police administrations of Kamrup district here on Wednesday.

The operation started in the morning and continued for several hours in which 20 houses built illegally in the reserved forest lands were razed to the ground by JCBs. A posse of forest and security personnel stood guard as the illegal structures were demolished and forest lands cleared of encroachments.

A senior forest official said that eviction drive will be intensified to clear the forest lands from encroachments in the coming days. “We will intensify our drive against encroachers to clear the forest lands in the coming days,” said the official adding that it has raised green hopes.
