Several areas of Tamil Nadu’s capital Chennai have reported heavy waterlogging after it recorded the highest overnight rainfall this year. As a preliminary step, the local authorities have opened the Chembarambakkam and Puzhal reservoirs to let out excessive rainwater.

According to reports, Chennai has experienced the ‘heaviest rain’ since the 2015 havoc floods. Earlier the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for coastal districts in Tamil Nadu on November 10 and 11.
