In Assam, flood situation worsened today as 6 people were killed and about 3,50,000 people have been affected across 11 districts with the rising of water levels of major rivers following incessant rainfall in the aftermath of cyclone Remal.
A total of 560 villages of 25 revenue circles affected due to flood and over 4900 hectares of crop areas have been damaged across the state. Total 3 people died in Cachar, 2 in Hailakandi and one in West Karbi Anglong district.
According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority, several roads and other infrastructures have been damaged by flood waters in several districts. Cachar, Karimganj and Nagaon are the worst affected districts.
State Government has opened 148 Relief camps and 39 relief distribution centres in flood affected districts and NDRF and SDRF teams have also been deployed for rescue and relief. River Kopili, Barak, Katakhal and Kushiyara are flowing above danger level.
