The Furkating Cricket Ground and Pavilion, developed by Assam Cricket Association (ACA) at Furkating in Golaghat District as part of its initiative to promote and develop the game of Cricket across the state, has been inaugurated today by the Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in the presence of a host of dignitaries with sports enthusiasts.
During the inaugural ceremony, Assam Cricket Association inked an MOU with Furkating Sports Association, whereby the former has developed the Furkating Cricket Ground, three centre wickets and the pavilion for the latter, which it enable it to host ACA and BCCI recognised tournaments in the days to come. After the execution of the MOU, it was exchanged between Shri Devajit Saikia, Secretary, Assam Cricket Association and Shri Mridul Gogoi, Secretary, Furkating Sports Association.
Speaking on the red-letter day Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma asserted that the present Apex Council of Assam Cricket Association has done a world of good to the cricketing scenario of Assam. Referring to the various ambitious cricket infrastructural projects undertaken by Assam Cricket Association across the State, he said that such initiatives can surely bring about far-reaching changes in the realm of Cricket in Assam, besides encouraging the budding cricketers to hone their skills and move up in their game.
Earlier, addressing the gathering, Romen Dutta, President, Assam Cricket Association said that the Furkating Cricket Ground and Pavilion, developed by Assam Cricket Association, would boost the existing cricket infrastructure in the Golaghat district, besides helping the cricketers of the region to a great degree. He added that a total of 18 such projects have been undertaken by Assam Cricket Association across the State in a bid to cause a paradigm shift in the cricketing landscape of Assam.
