Gauhati Town Club contributes Rs 5.24 lakh towards CM’s Relief Fund

Guwahati, June 07 (NKTV): In line with the universal pledge of providing succour to the society in times of need, a delegation representing the Executive Committee of the 115 year old Gauhati Town Club led by its Secretary Devajit Lon Saikia and Working President Mukul Chandra Gogoi met the Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma yesterday and presented a cheque of Rs 5.24 Lakh as the club’s contribution to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to lend weight to the efforts of the Chief Minister to fight the dreaded pandemic in the state of Assam.

Lauding the efforts of Gauhati Town Club (GTC), the CM stated that the gesture of GTC members would go a long way to help the efforts of the state government to combat the menace created by the pandemic in the state. He thanked the delegation for their contribution and requested the members to maintain the sporting spirit displayed by the Club since its inception.

Sarma also enquired about the status of the Football Academy and other sports activities maintained by the Club and promised to provide necessary help in ensuring a sporting culture in the state of Assam.

The Working President and Secretary apprised the CM of the progress of the new Football Academy to be developed in North Guwahati with all modern facilities and hoped that once normalcy returns other sporting activities would be resumed based on Government guidelines.

The delegation also included other office bearers of the Executive Committee of the Club.
