Govt is giving priority to promote sports in the state: Pema Khandu

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has said that his Government is giving priority to promote sports in the state. He said, declaring this year as the ‘Year of the Youth’ in the state budget will significantly boost this effort for sports and other sectors. He was addressing a gathering of sportspersons on the occasion of National Sports Day celebration cum cash incentive award ceremony in Itanagar today. Cash incentives were distributed to 187 meritorious sportspersons of 14 different disciplines.

The event was organized by the state Department of Sports and Youth Affairs. He said that apart from the Sangey Lahden Sports academy, the state will soon have another sports academy at Mio. Speaking on the adventure sports potential of the state, Mr. Khandu said, Arunachal Pradesh will host the World rafting Championship in 2027 and before this it will also host the national level championship next year.
