Chief Minister Distributes Land Patta to Beneficiaries of Mission Basundhara 2.0 under Sadiya & Doom Dooma LACs

Current Govt. Committed to Welfare of Members of Tea Tribe Communities, says Chief Minister
A day after attending ceremonial distribution of land pattas to beneficiaries of Mission Basundhara 2.0 in Dhemaji district, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday visited Sadiya and Doom Dooma in Tinsukia district and took part in similar exercises for beneficiaries of the two above-mentioned legislative assembly constituencies (LACs). There are around 12,000 and 7,000 beneficiaries of Mission Basundhara 2.0 within Sadiya and Doom Dooma LACs respectively. These apart, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma also inaugurated and laid foundation stones of projects worth an aggregate of Rs. 116 crores for Sadiya LAC and Rs. 80 crores for Doom Dooma LAC. Among the projects for which foundation stones were laid include the Rs. 35.84 crore improvement and up gradation of Dhola to Bhupen Hazarika Setu via Kesakhati Than Road under Asom Mala 2.0 for the year 2023-24, the improvement of road from Sarudhadum Borpothar to maithong Road under the Mukhya Mantrir Unnoto Pakipath Nirman Achani to be completed at accost of Rs. 9.35 crores, to name a few. In Doom Dooma, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stones of the Rs. 21-crore Jagannath Community Hall & Skill Centre, the Rs. 17.58-crore Doom Dooma Town Water Supply Project, to name a few.
Speaking at a function held at Dhola under Sadiya LAC in Tinsukia district to distribute land pattas to beneficiaries of Mission Basundhara 2.0, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said the State government would create belts and blocks to lend protection to satras (Vaishnavite monasteries) and other cultural and spiritual institutions from the menace of encroachment.
Chief Minister Dr. Sarma said the Government of Assam was committed to protect the land rights of all sections of the people across the State. He added that his government shall provide land pattas to all deserving beneficiaries by 2026 to ensure no genuine citizen entitled to enjoy land rights is deprived of legal rights over his or her landholdings. He said all the difficulties the people had to endure during Mission Basundhara 2.0 shall be addressed and resolved in Mission Basundhara 3.0 and that the government shall start in this direction right after the Lok Sabha elections. He said Mission Basundhara 3.0 will be made simpler to allow indigenous landless people to gain land rights. He also said along with individual land rights, government is taking adequate steps to allot land pattas to socio-cultural institutions.
Speaking about advantages of the digital land pattas, the Chief Minister stated pattas in digital format shall help the patta owners gain access to their pattas through the dig locker medium in the event of misplacing them.
He said ever since the present government took over the State administration, it has been working relentlessly to bring about socio-economic- academic empowerment narrative. He said schemes such as Orunodoi, waiver of microfinance loans, ration cards, health insurance, transparency in government jobs, to name a few, are the testament to the government’s commitment to transforming Assam into a State developed on all parameters. He said the government has been taking steps to see that all the Orunodoi beneficiaries are entitled to Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat and Mukhya Mantri Ayushman Asom, to name a few.
Tea Tribes Welfare Minister Sanjoy Kishan, Member of Parliament Pradan Barua, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Bolin Chetia also spoke on the occasion.MLA Suren Phukan, Chief Executive of Deuri Autonomous Council Bhairav Deuri and host of other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
At a function held at the playground of Rupai High School in Doom Dooma, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma said despite the country achieving Independence more than seven decades back, a great number of indigenous population of the State lacked patta certificates of the land under their possession. The current government in the State had launched Mission Basundhara with the aim of mitigating the land documentation woes of such indigenous families, the Chief Minister added. The Chief Minister added that in the upcoming Mission Basundhara 3.0, land pattas shall be provided to religious institutions, educational institutions, anginawadi kendras, etc. During his speech, the Chief Minister spoke about the various initiatives the current regime in the State has been taking for the socio-economic uplift of the members of the tea tribe communities in the State. He said steps such as increase in wages of tea garden labourers, reservations for youths from tea tribe communities in recruitment to government services, among others, are manifestations of the current government’s commitments towards the welfare of the members of the tea tribe communities.
At the Doom Dooma event, Tea Tribes Welfare Minister Sanjoy Kishan, Member of Parliament Pradan Barua, Members of Legislative Assembly Rupesh Gowala, Bhaskar Sharma, Suren Phukan, Chief Executive of Deuri Autonomous Council Bhairav Deuri, along with a host of other dignitaries were also present.
