Travellers between Guwahati and Silchar could soon have the convenience of early morning and night flights, as the government is exploring the possibility of expanding flight operations between the two cities.
Kaushik Rai, the Minister of Barak Valley Development, made the announcement during the 124th Annual General Meeting of the Surma Valley Branch of the Indian Tea Association in Silchar. Rai acknowledged that the road connectivity between Barak Valley and Guwahati often faces seasonal disruptions, particularly during the monsoon season. To address this issue, he emphasized the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing air connectivity.
At present, only one afternoon flight operates between Silchar and Guwahati. However, Rai expressed optimism about the introduction of flights during the night and early morning hours in the near future, which would provide more flexible travel options for passengers.
