Guwahati school’s Vice Principal Represents North-East India at Prestigious STEM Engagement Programme in London
Modern English School, Kahilipara, Guwahati, proudly celebrates the remarkable achievement of its Vice Principal, Ms. Sushmita Chanda, for participating in the prestigious GREAT Challenge Fund Project titled STEM Engagement and Learning Programme, in collaboration with the Science Museum Group, London, from March 3 to March 7, 2025.
Ms. Chanda, along with Mr. Rakesh Kumar, PGT-Physics from PM Shri KV Khanapara, represented the North-East Region as two of the only educators selected for this prestigious initiative. She was part of an exclusive team of 10 educators from across India, comprising professionals from both government and private institutions, as well as members of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM).
The programme focused on strengthening UK-India bilateral relations by fostering collaboration between two major science institutions – the National Council of Science Museums, India, and the Science Museum Group, UK. As part of the visit, Ms. Chanda engaged in enriching STEM-based activities, including:
• Understanding and implementing the Science Capital approach for enhanced classroom engagement.
• Observing international STEM activities and identifying challenges and opportunities.
• Participating in hands-on demonstrations and workshops to explore innovative STEM techniques.
• Interacting with Science Museum professionals across various departments to foster cross-border knowledge exchange.
• Attending at the ‘Space Lates’ event on March 6, 2025, gaining insights into audience engagement and learning methodologies.
Reflecting on this exceptional opportunity, Mrs. Jonali Das, Principal of Modern English School, expressed her pride, stating, “Ms. Chanda’s selection for this prestigious initiative is not only a personal milestone but also a significant achievement for Modern English School.
