Hardik Pandya weighs in on Impact Player rule, says all-rounders need a fixed role

Pandya also spoke about the much-debated Impact Player rule, which allows teams to substitute a player at any stage of the match. The BCCI has extended the rule until at least 2027, despite concerns from senior Indian players like Rohit Sharma, who believe it limits the opportunities for all-rounders by favoring specialized batters or bowlers.

“In the current scenario, if you are not a complete 50-50 all-rounder, it’s tough to find a spot in the XI. Over time, this could change, but if teams want to develop all-rounders, they need to provide a stable role for them to grow,” Pandya stated.

With Pandya suspended for the season opener, star batter Suryakumar Yadav will lead Mumbai Indians in their high-profile clash against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.
